A new social media page has been launched to help reunite lost dogs with their owners more quickly.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog warden team has set up a dedicated Facebook page to make it easier for residents to check if their missing pet has been found.
The page will feature photographs and relevant details of found dogs.
Councillor Lyn Healing, cabinet member for communities and public protection, said: "This is a great new resource, and we hope it will help to more easily reunite dogs with their owners.
"We encourage interested residents to follow the page on Facebook for updates."
The council is responsible for stray and unattended dogs under Section 149 of the Environment Protection Act 1990.
Not all dogs will be posted on the page, so residents are advised to contact the team directly if their dog goes missing.
Proof of ownership will be required to reclaim any dogs in the council’s care.
