Two men arrested after firearm discharged on Doncaster street

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a gun was reportedly discharged on a street in Doncaster.

At 10:16pm, on Friday (Aug 21), police responded to reports a firearm had been discharged on Gordon Road in the Edlington area of Doncaster.

Officers responded and found evidence consistent with a firearms discharge.

However, no injuries were reported.

Ongoing enquiries have resulted in two men, aged 37 and 27, being arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent.

Both men remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of our Armed Crime Team, said: "We have had a dedicated team of detectives working hard to understand what unfolded on Friday night and this has led us to making two arrests.

"We know the unimaginable loss that can happen when a trigger is pulled. Innocent lives are put in unnecessary danger and we will not stand for this.

"Our investigation continues and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about this incident, or wider gun crime in South Yorkshire, to get in touch with us.

"We are stronger with your support. Now isn't the time to stay silent. No matter how small or insignificant you might think your information is, it could prove to be crucial to our investigation."
