Booze sales could start at 8am in York Station under new plans

ALCOHOL could be sold from a York Station vendor earlier under newly-lodged plans.

An application to extend the hours when Café Local, between the station’s platforms five and nine, would see alcohol sales start from 8am and stop at midnight every day.

It would see the café permitted to sell alcohol two hours earlier than its current licensed hours which begin at 10am.

The vendor would continue to open from 5am to half past midnight daily if York Council approves its application.

Select Service Partner Ltd’s application comes as part of plans for a refurbishment of the café.

It is set to see the venue’s current layout altered.

The application is open for public comments until Tuesday, September 15.

It is the latest licence application lodged with the council.

Mardens Caterers of Sheffield Ltd has applied to licence a new KFC drive-thru which is set to open at the Clifton Moor Leisure Park.

Burger restaurant Sloppy’s lodged its application to licence its Castlegate premises including for alcohol sales ahead of its opening on Friday, August 21.

The Angel On The Green bar applied to extend its licensed area to 6 Bishopthorpe Road.

It comes as part of plans to turn it into a space for events including art workshops, talks and private functions.
