Yorkshire motorway reopens after closure with animals reported on the road

UPDATE: The M1 northbound between junction 40 for the A638 Wakefield Road and junction 41 for Carrgate is running normally after lanes were temporarily closed this morning.

DELAYS are affecting a motorway in Yorkshire this morning (Monday, August 24) after animals were reported as being in the road.

Lanes were closed and queues formed on the M1 northbound between junction 40 for the A638 Wakefield Road and junction 41 for Carrgate.

National Highways reports delays of 32 minutes from junction 38 on the approach to junction 40.

Lanes have reopened but residual delays are expected to slow traffic in the area.
