A back-to-school haircut rush is putting pressure on salons and parents alike.
New figures from booking platform Fresha show that in Leeds, children's haircut appointments spiked by 48.8 per cent during the final two weeks of summer, compared to the weekly average.
Nationally, bookings during this period were 36 per cent higher than a typical summer week, with 38,767 appointments made in the week beginning 25 August 2025.
Annabelle Taurua, resident beauty expert and PR specialist at Fresha, said: "The back-to-school haircut is one of those jobs that's very easy to leave until the end of the holidays.
"Thousands of other parents are having exactly the same thought.
"If you know your child needs a haircut before going back, I'd avoid relying on getting your usual time slot at the last minute."
The surge is driven by parents booking last-minute, with 32 per cent of children's appointments made within 72 hours and 18 per cent within 24 hours.
Saturdays are the busiest day for bookings, with 56,043 appointments across the UK during the summer period.
Manchester saw the largest increase in demand, with a 76.2 per cent rise, followed by Belfast at 65.5 per cent and Newcastle at 53.6 per cent.
