A Sur-Ron e-bike rider will be receiving a summons to court after being spotted by police in Keighley.
Officers from the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team were on patrol in the Woodhouse area when they encountered a Sur-Ron e-bike being ridden towards them.
The rider mounted the pavement and made off, but officers immediately recognised him.
A spokesperson for the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We hadn't been there long when we rounded a corner to suddenly find ourselves face to face with this Sur-Ron, being ridden towards us in the opposite direction.
"The rider didn't want to hand around, immediately mounting the pavement and making off.
"He might have thought his getaway was a success, but unfortunately for him, he seemed to be missing one important item, in this case, a face covering.
"Given that the rider was immediately recognised by both officers, we knew exactly where to go.
"A quick visit to his address, and we were soon wheeling the Sur-Ron out of the back garden and onto the back of our recovery truck."
The rider will be receiving a summons to court in the post very soon.
Sur-Ron bikes are not inherently illegal in the UK, but most models are not legal to ride as e-bikes on public roads, pavements, cycle paths, bridleways or other public land.
They are generally treated as electric mopeds or motorcycles, not ordinary bicycles.
