A person was airlifted to hospital after a crash in Lanchester prompted a major 999 response.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the junction of Perth Bank and Burnhopeside Avenue at 3.25pm on Sunday (August 23).
One person was treated by paramedics before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle.
No further details about the circumstances of the crash or the condition of the casualty have been confirmed. Durham Police has been contacted for comment.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 3.25pm on Sunday (August 23) to reports of a road traffic incident on the junction of Perth Bank and Burnhopeside Avenue in Lanchester, Durham,
“We dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene and requested support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service; One patient was taken to the RVI by air for further treatment.”

The Great North Air Ambulance Service said its critical care team, comprising a doctor and paramedic, was activated at 3.42pm and arrived at the scene 14 minutes later.
After assessing and treating the patient alongside ambulance crews, the team airlifted them to hospital, with the flight taking seven minutes.
Local reports suggested Perth Bank was closed for a period following the collision.
