Dramatic pictures show black plumes of smoke being sent into the sky after a car burst into flames.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDFRS) was called to Tesco Extra in St Helen Auckland on Saturday (August 22) at 6.25pm.
Screenshots from a video on social media show black smoke pouring from vehicle. It is not yet known what caused the fire.

A CDDFRS spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.25pm on Saturday, August 22 to a car fire at Tesco Extra, St Helen Auckland, Bishop Auckland.
“One fire engine from Bishop Auckland Fire Station attended.
“Firefighters used one hose reel to put out the fire before leaving the scene at 7.41pm.”
