A pub near Darlington which has won praise for its food, friendly service and “reasonable prices” is preparing to reopen.
The Tuns Inn in Sadberge is preparing to welcome customers back through its doors.
The pub has not shared why it closed previously, but said work has been taking place behind the scenes ahead of its reopening.
In a social media post, The Tuns said: “One day closer. The countdown is officially on, and we’re getting closer and closer to opening the doors.
“We’ve got plenty happening behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to welcome you all in and show you what we’ve been working on.”
The village pub has also asked residents what they would like to see on offer when it reopens.
In another post, it said: “The Tuns Inn is getting ready to reopen, and before we do, we want to know what you want.
“What food would have you running through the doors? What’s your go-to drink? Are you ordering dessert, or pretending you’re too full and then stealing someone else’s?”
The Tuns, on Hill House Lane, had developed a strong following among diners before its closure.
Previous TripAdvisor reviews praised its Sunday lunches, freshly prepared meals, steak and curry nights, and the range of gluten free and dairy free options available.
One customer said the pub’s food was “beyond excellent”, while another praised its “exceptional” hospitality and use of local produce.

The Tuns has also announced it will be working with local firm Three Brothers Brewing Company to offer cask beer when it reopens.
A reopening date has not yet been confirmed.
