A motorist has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 and handed six penalty points after failing to identify the driver of a vehicle linked to an alleged road traffic offence in County Durham.
The case against Tarisai Taruvinga, of Whittlesey, Peterborough, was heard at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on August 20.
The 37-year-old failed to provide police with information about the person driving a Vauxhall when requested by Durham Constabulary.

The court imposed a fine of £660. Taruvinga was also ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £266 victim services surcharge, bringing the total to £1,056.
Taruvinga’s driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.
A collection order was made so that payments are to be made in £50 monthly instalments.
