Former Trump lawyer and New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is threatening to sue Tucker Carlson and Hunter Biden over a recent podcast interview about the Biden laptop scandal.
During their conversation earlier this month on The Tucker Carlson Show, both alleged that figures tied to Israel sought to boost the unfounded claim that Biden’s infamous laptop leak contained explicit imagery of children.
Speaking to Newsmax on Sunday, Giuliani alleged the episode amounted to defamation and said he was “seriously considering” a lawsuit.
“He personally defamed me, Hunter Biden did,” he said. “And so did Tucker.”
The Independent has contacted Carlson and Biden for comment.
During their interview, Carlson — who was once a frequent Biden critic and booster of the laptop story during his tenure at Fox News — alleged individuals with links to Israel approached him about the alleged abusive material on the laptop.
“They were behind it," Carlson said. ”I felt like everybody in Washington knew it, but there was so much pressure not to criticize Israel in any way that they just said, 'It's the Russians, it's the Russians'.”
Biden echoed the allegation that Israel was involved in the laptop controversy. He added that Giuliani was one of the “U.S. actors” who helped boost their claims.
“There’s no possible way all of the information that was eventually labeled as my laptop came from one laptop,” Biden said. “It’s way too large . . . They hacked my cloud . . . There’s the Netanyahu side, the Israeli side.”
The Independent has contacted the Israeli government for comment.
In the weeks before the 2020 election, The New York Post published a series of stories alleging that material on a laptop Hunter Biden left at a repair shop proved widespread corruption within the Biden family, which they denied.
Giuliani reportedly provided a copy of the laptop’s hard drive to the Post.
“I wasn’t an agent for anybody but myself and the United States of America and the man I was representing,” he added of his motivations in his Newsmax interview.
The laptop later featured in a federal gun case against Hunter Biden, though his conviction in that case was rendered moot when President Joe Biden pardoned his son in December of 2024.
Giuliani himself was found liable in 2023 in a high-profile, $148 million defamation case for false comments he made about two Georgia election workers regarding the 2020 presidential election.
Last fall, Giuliani settled a separate, $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems over the ex-mayor’s baseless claims the company helped sway the election.
Hunter Biden, once the fuel for numerous right-wing attacks on his father, has reemerged in the media in recent months, sitting for numerous interviews, criticizing Republicans and updating the public on Joe Biden’s fragile health in the wake of a cancer diagnosis.
