A woman has been fined after rubbish linked to her was fly-tipped in woodland.
Michelle Simmons, from Hull, was prosecuted after a large amount of waste was found dumped at Tibthorpe High Woods, near Driffield.
She pleaded guilty at Beverley Magistrates' Court on August 19 to failing in her duty of care regarding the disposal of waste.
The fly-tipped rubbish included electrical items, household waste, children’s toys and other domestic materials.
Evidence found at the scene led officers from East Riding of Yorkshire Council to trace the waste back to Simmons.
She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £150 in costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for communities and public protection, said: "It is essential to ensure that waste is only disposed of via the correct legal channels, either through bin collections or at household waste recycling sites. "We are dedicated to investigating reports of fly tipping, and taking robust action against offenders whenever possible."
The council reminded residents that they are responsible for ensuring their waste is disposed of legally, either through household bins or by taking larger items to recycling centres.
For bulky waste, residents can use the council’s collection service or hire a licensed waste carrier.
