A WETHERSPOONS pub in North Yorkshire has applied for a new licence from the council.
The Lord Rosebery pub in Scarborough has applied for a new outdoor seating licence from North Yorkshire Council.
The JD Whetherspoon public house is located in the resort’s town centre at 85-87 Westborough.
If Jennie Odell’s application is given the green light, the company would be allowed to place four tables and eight chairs outside its premises near Scarborough’s railway station. The business previously applied for a pavement licence in 2024.

Members of the public wishing to comment on the plans have been invited to contact the licensing authority no later than Saturday, September 5.
The pub was originally opened in 1895 as Scarborough’s Liberal Club by its namesake prime minister.
It was acquired by the Co-operative Society after the Second World War and opened as a store. Today, it consists of a large ground floor area, a small raised area to the rear and a first floor gallery.

Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
The authority can also be contacted by email at licensing.east@northyorks.gov.uk.
The council’s website states: “It is an offence, knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application, punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
