Kiplin Hall is famed for its links to America via its first owner, a local man called George Calvert.
From his Yorkshire roots Calvert pursued a career at royal court, earning the title First Baron Baltimore.
With interests in colonisation and religious tolerance Calvert set about creating new communities abroad, founding the colony that became the state of Maryland, which today includes the city Baltimore and Calvert County named after the Yorkshireman.
America 1776 Live took place on Saturday at Kiplin Hall, just 15 minutes from Scotch Corner on the A1.
Visitors experienced life during the American Revolution (1765 – 1783) set against the backdrop of the Jacobean Hall.
