A new community arts project is inviting Bradford residents to document their neighbourhoods and personal experiences through mobile photography.
Odyssey Media House CIC has launched A City in Frames, a creative initiative aimed at giving residents the opportunity to capture the people, places and moments that define Bradford.
The project will feature free photography workshops, guided storytelling sessions, a public exhibition and a short documentary film showcasing images and stories from across the district.
Celebrating Bradford through local perspectives
Open to anyone aged 13 and over, the project aims to remove barriers to participation by encouraging people to use their smartphones to tell their stories.
Participants will work alongside local photographers, filmmakers, artists and community organisations to develop creative skills while helping create a visual archive of Bradford's communities.
Oluwadamilola Adetomiwa, chief executive of Odyssey Media House CIC, said the initiative would give residents the chance to share unique perspectives on the city.
They said: "A City in Frames recognises that every resident experience Bradford differently…every street, every neighbourhood and every community holds stories that deserve to be seen and remembered.”
Workshops and photography walks
The programme will begin with a series of free workshops taking place across Bradford during August and September.
Participants will receive practical guidance on mobile photography before taking part in guided photography walks led by experienced local creatives.
Images and video footage collected throughout the project will then be curated into a citywide exhibition and incorporated into a professionally produced 15-minute documentary.
Organisers say the film will explore the different stories, cultures and experiences that make up Bradford.
Building a lasting visual archive
As well as the exhibition, Odyssey Media House CIC plans to host community discussions, artist talks, film screenings and interactive storytelling events.
Project lead Gbolajesu Amusa said the initiative is designed to ensure local stories are preserved and shared by the people who experience them every day.
They said: "Some of the most powerful stories about a city are often the ones that go undocumented,
"This project is about giving people the tools and platform to capture the people, places and moments that matter to them.”
Encouraging participation in the arts
The organisation hopes the project will boost participation in the arts, support local creative talent and encourage greater cultural exchange between communities.
By the end of the project, organisers say A City in Frames will have created a lasting archive reflecting Bradford's diversity, heritage and identity.
