A man has died after a crash on the A1(M) which left the road closed for several hours.
Durham Police were called at 2.20am on Saturday, August 22, to a one-car collision involving a red Peugeot 208.
The 31-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car was travelling southbound between J62 A690 (Carrville) and J61 A688 Tursdale Road (Bowburn), in County Durham.
His family is being supported by specialist officers.
An investigation is underway, and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
