A former Durham Police officer has been accused of slamming his partner’s head against a wall and subjecting her to domestic abuse.
The former officer - who has not been named - will face an accelerated gross misconduct hearing at Peterlee Police Station on August 25 and 26.
It is alleged that the former officer was in an intimate, personal relationship with a woman, referred to as Ms A, between around September 2020 and September 2024.
He is accused of on various dates, in the weeks before September 22, 2024, he engaged in violent, threatening and abusive behaviour towards her.
The allegations include slamming Ms A’s head onto a wall, causing bruising to her eye and chest, and damaging a wall in the home they shared.
On September 22, 2024, he is alleged to have hit Ms A in the face, causing bruising to the side of her face.
He is also accused of banging her head against a door on one or more occasions, pinning her to the floor and causing bruising to her hand.
The conduct is alleged to amount to assault and domestic abuse.

Durham Police says the allegations, if proven, would breach the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct.
The force said the alleged actions are serious enough that they could justify dismissal and amount to gross misconduct if proven.
The hearing is due to begin at 10am at Peterlee Police Station, on St Aidans Way, on Monday, August 25.
