Police are urging motorists to avoid the A1246 Great North Road near the Selby Fork Interchange on the A1.
They have closed the road while the emergency services deal with a serious collision.
No details have been released of the vehicles involved in the crash.
The A1246 road has been closed between its roundabout with the A63 at the Selby Fork Interchange south to the roundabout at the north of Fairburn.
