West Yorkshire Police has moved to reassure the public after a video appearing to show a man exposing himself at a bus stop in Leeds began circulating on social media again.

The force confirmed the footage is not recent and relates to an incident that took place in May this year.

Police issued the clarification after becoming aware that the video was being widely shared online, prompting concern among residents.

Man arrested, charged and remanded

According to West Yorkshire Police, a 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

The man was subsequently charged with sexual assault and exposure before being remanded in custody.

Suspended prison sentence handed down

Police said the case has already been dealt with by the courts.

The defendant was sentenced earlier this month to 23 months' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

The sentence followed his conviction for sexual assault and exposure offences linked to the incident.

Warning against speculation

West Yorkshire Police is urging members of the public not to speculate about the case on social media.

The force said the incident has already been investigated, with the offender identified, charged and sentenced through the criminal justice system.

Officers issued the statement to provide reassurance and clarify that the footage currently circulating online does not relate to a recent incident.
