A driver stopped for speeding on the A629 bypass was found to be driving a vehicle that had allegedly been untaxed since November 2022.
The incident was reported by West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside roads policing team, which detected the vehicle travelling at 95mph.
Further offences uncovered
After stopping the vehicle, officers carried out checks and discovered the car had reportedly not been taxed for almost four years.
The driver was subsequently reported to court.
Car seized by authorities
The vehicle was seized on behalf of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) as part of the enforcement action.
Police said the driver now faces the prospect of paying a substantial amount in unpaid vehicle tax in addition to the court proceedings.
Part of ongoing road safety campaign
The case forms part of ongoing road safety enforcement work by Operation Steerside, which targets offences linked to the Fatal Five factors most commonly associated with serious and fatal collisions.
The Fatal Five offences targeted by roads policing teams are speeding, drink or drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, using a mobile phone while driving and careless or dangerous driving, which are among the leading causes of serious and fatal collisions.
The initiative also supports the Vision Zero strategy, which aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on West Yorkshire's roads.

A WYP spokesperson wrote on social media: "They say that things have a habit of catching up with you. Well this thing caught up with us very quickly on the A629 bypass West Yorkshire Police - Keighley - 95mph to be precise.
They added: "Things got worse for him though when we uncovered that he had failed to tax the car since November... November 2022!! Driver reported to court and vehicle seized on behalf of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. That's a lot of back tax to pay!"
