A BRADFORD Post Office has officially reopened - but questions remain as to why it was shut for nine months
The Tong Street suddenly closed in October 2025 and did not open until July.
The Post Office has so far only cited "operational reasons".
The recent reopening ceremony was attended by Labour MP for Bradford South Judith Cummins.

Ms Cummins said: "When this post office closed down last October, people thought that was the end of it.
"The post office is a lifeline for local people, and this is why I campaigned to get it reopened.
"It’s the heart of the community."

'Residents were left in the dark for months'
Holme Wood and Bierley ward Councillor Matt Edwards, Greens, is also pleased that it has reopened - but says residents "were left in the dark for months" when it closed.
He said: "It is great to finally see the Post Office on Tong Street open again, but I am really disappointed that Post Office Limited didn’t feel the need to send an invitation to local councillors – especially when they know strongly, we have pushed to get this reopened.
"But I am glad they been able to get their photo opportunity today (Friday).
"This community really values this service, and the last nine months without it caused real disruption for thousands of people.
"I don't want to get drawn into speculation about why the branch closed.
"What matters now is making sure the Post Office never treats a community like this again.
"Residents were left in the dark for months."

Holme Wood identified as needing a post office
Tig Khehra, Post Office retail change manager, praised the new postmaster and stressed the need for the branch in Holme Wood.
Mr Khehra said: "The new postmaster is very committed to learning all about the role.
"He wants help the community in any way he can."
He explained that although a pop-up or mobile branch had been considered during the closure, no suitable location could be found.
Mr Khehra said: "We identified this as an area that needed a post office.
"We had a look at running a post office on wheels service, but sadly couldn't find anywhere operational."

New postmaster 'enjoying' the job so far
The new postmaster, Rizwa Patel, who helped run a family convenience store for 15 years, said the community has been supportive.
Mr Patel said: "People are really happy that the branch is open again as there is a big housing estate here and the elderly and families like to be able to walk here to send their mail and to pick up parcels.
"So far, I am really enjoying the job."
