A nurse has swapped her scrubs for stories, turning a new page and opening a bookshop and tearoom.
Hayley Beckinsale, from Seaburn, launched Chapter 13 in Sunniside, Sunderland, last month after 16 years as a district nurse.
The shop, set in a converted estate agents, offers thousands of fiction titles spanning romance, thrillers, horror and contemporary fiction.
There is also a dedicated fantasy room.
Chapter 13 is designed as a peaceful place for people to enjoy a new read with a cup of tea in the tearoom or in the cosy reading snug.
The tearoom serves herbal teas, coffees, soft drinks, brownies and flapjacks.
The shop also offers greeting cards, bookmarks and a selection of gifts.
Free used books are available, and customers can purchase 'date with a book' bundles - pre-wrapped mystery books that come with an eye mask, tea, stickers, bookmark, pens and annotation tabs.
The shop's name also holds personal meaning, with Hayley’s birthday being on the 13th, a birthday she shares with her daughter’s favourite singer Taylor Swift.
