Classical music lovers in North Yorkshire are being promised a season packed with internationally acclaimed performers as Richmondshire Concerts prepares to welcome a series of renowned artists to the area.
The season launches on October 3 with a piano recital by Margaret Fingerhut, whose programme will span works from Haydn to Reynaldo Hahn, including pieces by Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy.
Fingerhut will perform on the Georgian Theatre’s Steinway grand piano, recently rebuilt after decades of use and previously played by legendary figures such as Benjamin Britten and Stephen Kovacevich.
On October 17, the Sacconi Quartet will return to Richmond with a programme featuring quartets by Rachmaninoff and Arensky, before being joined by cellist Steffan Morris for Schubert’s String Quintet.
The Doric Quartet will perform on November 28, offering music by Schumann, Beethoven, and Emilie Mayer, the recently rediscovered composer sometimes referred to as the "Female Beethoven."
Baroque Alchemy, a duo featuring Piers Adams and Lyndy Mayle on recorder and keyboard, will take the stage on February 20 with Golden Thread, a programme including and inspired by J S Bach.
Flutes and Frets, featuring Beth Stone and Daniel Murphy on flutes and fretted instruments, will perform on March 6.
Their concert, "It’s About Time," will explore music from Thomas Tallis to Chick Corea, including works by Rossini, Fauré, and Bartók.
The season concludes on April 10 with the Chaos Quartet, part of the BBC New Generation Artists scheme.
