EasyJet has shared a range of European breaks that holidaymakers can take over the August Bank Holiday without taking any annual leave.

The airline has unveiled a list of short-haul destinations perfect for a 48-hour getaway, with one-way flights starting at less than £40.

Dubbed the “Bank Holiday Loophole,” the idea involves flying out on Friday evening or Saturday morning, returning before Bank Holiday Monday, and still having the day to rest before work resumes.

EasyJet's 48-hour weekend breaks

Tony Hopkins, trading and development director at easyJet holidays, said: "More people are looking to make the most of Bank Holiday weekends, and it’s easy to see why.

"A short break offers the chance to switch off, explore somewhere new and enjoy great value, all without using a single day’s annual leave."

The concept is designed for those who work a traditional Monday-to-Friday schedule and want to maximise their time off.

Destinations on easyJet’s list include Mallorca, Malaga, and Alicante.

The airline said it will operate more than 800,000 seats from the UK during the Bank Holiday weekend, a 6% increase compared to last year.

Included in this expanded offering are 56 more destinations, including new routes to Preveza in Greece, Reus in Spain, and Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Amsterdam and Paris are said to be among the most popular choices for shorter weekend trips.

One-way fares begin at £31.99, with a flight from Liverpool to Mallorca.

Other options include Manchester to Malaga from £39.99, Birmingham to Gran Canaria from £44.99, and London Luton to Faro from £47.99.

Travelers are reminded that these prices are for outbound flights only.

They will need to book and pay for a suitable return flight, along with arranging accommodation, transfers, and spending money.
