People in York get early access to buy homes in new development

People in York can get early access to buy new homes.

Persimmon Homes is offering an exclusivity window for its Minster View development on Hull Road, open to buyers with a YO postcode, key workers and armed forces personnel.

The offer is part of a first release of homes at the site, with the window open until September 6.

Councillor Anna Baxter recently visited the development.

She said: "It's always much better seeing a development on the ground than looking at plans on a piece of paper, so it was great to get our hard hats on and have a proper look around.

"We need more homes in York, particularly homes that local people and families can afford.

"So there's lots to welcome here: 162 new homes, including 49 affordable homes, new green space and a play area."

So far, six properties have been sold, all to buyers from the York area.

The development will include 49 affordable homes, with 13 getting a 40 per cent first homes discount on market value; sold to first time buyers, whose joint income does not exceed £80,000.

The remaining 36 will be available for social rent.

All properties will include air-source heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers, making the development gas-free and exceeding current building regulations.

Graham Whiteford, planning director for Persimmon Yorkshire, said: "Our Minster View website is now live and so we'd encourage homebuyers to contact our sales team who will be happy to answer any questions about the range of homes on offer."

The site will also include nearly three acres of public open space, including a children's play area.

Minster View takes its name from its views of York Minster to the west.

Persimmon Homes is encouraging eligible buyers to take advantage of the early access period before it closes.
