Two people were arrested soon after a brazen theft at one of York’s best-known stores.
Thieves escaped with a large quantity of high-value fragrances from Fenwick in the Coppergate Centre at about 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday).
Two suspects were monitored on CCTV and were reported to have stolen an entire shelf of items.

The police were called and identified the suspects’ vehicle as it left the area.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Following a short pursuit, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.
“Both men were soon detained by officers and arrested. During subsequent searches, the driver was found in possession of a quantity of suspected illegal drugs.”
Two men, aged 36 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The 36-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
They have been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
