A Settle woman marked her 100th birthday at Anley Hall Nursing Home, where she remains a “picture of glamour and class”.
Born and raised in London, Pamela King left school at the start of the war and became a telephonist in Sittingbourne.
She married Ivan King in 1946. After he was demobbed, they moved to Yorkshire before returning to London.
When Ivan took a job as a policeman in Malaysia, Mrs King joined him six months later.
She subsequently worked in Kenya as a consultant for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and travelled extensively.
An Anley Hall spokesperson said: “Pamela loves to reminisce about this time in her life. She has many happy memories of working.”
Back in the UK, Mrs King continued working for Elizabeth Arden and trained staff. Her husband worked in security.
The couple eventually settled in Addingham, but Mr King died at the end of 2020.
Mrs King now lives at Anley Hall, where staff say she is a valued member of the community.
Relatives visit often, taking her out or spending time with her.
An Anley Hall spokesperson said: “Pamela is a picture of glamour and class.
"Her hair is always pristine and she will not leave the room without her lipstick.”
Staff hosted a birthday party for Mrs King, with her family, a buffet and a singer.
Residents joined the celebrations, and she received a 100th birthday card from the King.
