Jobs will be created if plans go ahead for the creation of a padel centre at Carr Crofts Drive in Armley.
Leeds City Council has been asked to approve planning permission for the scheme, which includes solar panels and a cafe and bar area.
A design report by Power Padel Group Ltd said there was a need for provision for the fast-growing sport in the area.
It said: “The building is currently empty and is ready to be re-purposed into a facility that will provide an employment opportunity to the local area.
“The new facility will be a fantastic addition to the area providing Leeds residents with an excellent facility to enjoy this fast growing and increasingly popular sport.”
The report said 12 jobs were expected to be created at the former warehouse, around one-and-a-half miles from Armley gyratory and the city centre.
It said: “Its last use was as a shop fitting manufacturing, storage and distribution facility.”
The report said the site was close to public transport links and bike parking spaces were already in place.
It said: “Secure bicycle parking for eight persons is located near to the building main entrance for anyone wishing to travel to site via bicycle.”
