A SINGER-SONGWRITER is set to perform an original song inspired by concerns about the climate emergency at a community event this weekend.
Chris Grayston will perform her song, Emergency, at Hedgehog Organics in Bingley on Saturday, August 22, between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
The event aims to raise awareness of climate change and promote a screening of the Climate Emergency Briefing film at Bingley Parish Church on September 1.
Inspired by recent wildfires
Ms Grayston said she decided to write the song after watching the Climate Emergency Briefing film and seeing the impact of recent wildfires.
She said she was left asking what she could do to help and decided to use her music to encourage discussion about climate change and the challenges communities face.
Bringing the conversation to local communities
Ms Grayston said communities have an important role to play.
She hopes the event will encourage local people to think about what actions can be taken both individually and collectively to help address environmental challenges.
Visitors will be invited to listen to the performance, and Ms Grayston said she hopes people will join in singing along.
Film screening to follow
Saturday's event will also publicise a screening of the Climate Emergency Briefing film at Bingley Parish Church on September 1 at 7pm.
Organisers hope the screening will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about climate change and discuss how communities can respond to the challenges ahead.
Hedgehog Organics is run by proprietor Maria OuBee, who is supporting the awareness event.
