THE City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council will bring in new rules for acupuncture, tattooing, and piercing businesses.
From September 14, businesses offering these services must be registered with the council and can only operate on registered premises.
The businesses must prominently display their registration certificates.
The council can charge fees for registration, and applications must include details of the premises and any conviction under section 16 of the 1982 Act.
Offenders could face fines, suspension, or cancellation of registration.
Council officers may apply to a Justice of the Peace for a warrant to enter premises on suspicion that an offence under Section 16 is being committed.
Exceptions are made for registered medical practitioners and professionals who occasionally provide services at clients' requests.
The council will also seek to introduce bylaws to ensure the cleanliness of premises, fittings, people, instruments, materials, and equipment.
