A teenager returned from Australia in time to collect her GCSE results after making sporting history as the youngest athlete ever selected to represent the UK at a prestigious international tetrathlon competition.
Sixteen-year-old Annabel Lupton, a student at Teesside High School, balanced rigorous training with her studies to achieve strong results across all her subjects.
She represented the UK in the Pony Club Tetrathlon International Exchange in Australia, where she placed fourth overall and competed against teams from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, and the United States.

Annabel’s parents said: "We would like to thank Teesside High for everything they have done for Annabel.
"Balancing a busy training schedule alongside her education is a challenge and she has been supported throughout.
"Not only has Annabel had the opportunity to represent the UK, she has also achieved fantastic GCSE results."

Alongside her international success, Annabel also won the Pony Club UK Championship in the Open Class (under 25) for the second year running.
Kirsty Mackenzie, Head at Teesside High School, said: "Annabel has done so well across all of her GCSE subjects and we are extremely proud of her.
"Balancing her studies with the time and training required of her to achieve this historic title required much dedication and resilience.

"Nothing phases Annabel, she juggles all of her commitments and still finds time to fully represent the school in sports and as a prefect.
