A County Durham school is celebrating another year of improving GCSE results after making gains across all headline measures and outperforming both national and Durham averages.
Hermitage Academy achieved an Attainment 8 score of 50.6, reflecting strong performance across students’ best eight GCSE subjects.
Lindsay Maughan, head of school, said: "These fantastic results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and resilience of our students, as well as the unwavering support of staff and families.
"Congratulations to all our students on their remarkable achievements.
"We are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished."
Eighty-four per cent of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English, while 73 per cent secured at least a grade 4 in both English and maths.
In maths, 23 per cent of all grades were 7 or above.

More than 60 grade 9s were awarded across all subjects.
Individual successes included Charlotte M, who achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s, and Millie D, who earned seven grade 9s and one grade 8.
Caitlin B achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s, while Lauren W earned four grade 9s and four grade 8s.
