One person has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a garden gate and wall in Redcar.

Emergency services were called to Plantation Road at about 6.10am today (Friday, August 21), following reports of a road traffic collision.

The road was partly closed for about 30 minutes to deal with the incident, which saw the ambulance service and police attend.

One person has been taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough following the crash.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on Plantation Road in Redcar at 6:11am on Friday 21 August.

We dispatched one ambulance crew and one clinical team leader to the incident.

"One patient was taken to James Cook University Hospital."

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police added: "We were called to a single-vehicle collision on Plantation Road, Redcar, at around 6.10am this morning (Friday 21st August).

"It was reported that a vehicle collided with the garden wall and gate of a property causing damage.

"The female driver was taken to hospital to be checked over but it’s not thought she suffered any serious injuries."
