A North East charity is looking for caring people to join its homecare team to help older residents live safely and independently in their own homes.
Age UK Northumberland is recruiting Home Care Support Workers across the county to help older people remain safe, supported, and independent in familiar surroundings.
Debbie Davies, registered manager of homecare at Age UK Northumberland, said: "Working in home care is so much more than a job – it's about building relationships, restoring confidence, and helping people to live independently in the place they love most, their own home.
"We're looking for kind, reliable people who genuinely care about others.
"Whether you're looking for a complete career change, returning to work, or just want a role where every day has purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
"If you have compassion, empathy, and a willingness to learn, we can teach you the rest."
Support workers assist with personal care, meal preparation, companionship, and helping clients get out into their communities.
No previous experience is required, as each new recruit receives paid training through a nine-day induction and ongoing development.
A recent recruit said joining the charity had been one of the best decisions they had made.
They said: "Each day is different, and every visit matters.
"Sometimes you're helping someone with practical tasks, other times you're simply the friendly face they've been looking forward to seeing all week.
"Knowing you've made someone's day a little brighter is incredibly rewarding.
"The support from the team has been amazing from day one, and the training gave me the confidence I needed.
"I'd encourage anyone who's thinking about a career in care to give it a go."
For many clients, regular visits from a support worker offer both practical help and emotional comfort.
One client said: "I’m thrilled with the care I have received, and my carers are worth their weight in gold.
"I’m always more upbeat after their call as they take their time to sit and talk to me.
"The care received has also had a positive impact on my family as they are still able to go about their business, without worrying about me.
