Sunderland City Council has announced the closure of Mowbray Road for the development, expected to take five months, starting on December 11.

The closure, affecting both the carriageways and footways, will be in place for up to 18 months, but work is expected to be completed in five months.

The closure will affect pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and horses, with an alternative route provided through the adjacent highways network.

Other roads to be closed for the duration of the work include Salem Street East Back, Amberley Street, Amberley Street East Back, Harrogate Street, Harrogate Street East Back, Amberley Street South, Salem Street South East Back, and Hendon Valley Road from its junction with Ward Court to its northern extent.

Mowbray Road will be closed from its junctions with Salem Street and Suffolk Street.

An alternative route will be provided via the adjacent highways network.
