Questions are being asked about the future of social care in York.
A national conversation, part of Baroness Louise Casey’s Big Conversation on Care, aims to shape the design of a future National Care Service and is calling for public input from across England.
It will explore who a National Care Service should support, what role families should play, and how care should be funded fairly and sustainably.
Cllr Claire Douglas, York Council's Labour leader, said the conversion hands everyone a direct role in shaping the future of adult social care.
Baroness Casey said she wanted people across England to help those carrying out the review face the hard questions on social care.
It comes as part of the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care.

The conversation will continue until April 2027, with the Independent Commission’s recommendations set to be published by summer 2027.
Cllr Douglas said the Big Conversation is timely and important.
The council leader said: "York is currently carrying out significant work to improve its social care service for the benefit of our residents.
"The people of York should be right at the heart of this conversation.
"It’s about every one of us and our families and friends.

Baroness Casey said : "For too long, we have been stuck in the same cycle: crisis, promises of reform, another review, and then retreat, while the people who need care, and their families, bear the brunt.
"Social care affects every family in this country: whether we need care ourselves, care for someone we love, work in care, or pay for it through our taxes.
"That’s why I am launching The Big Conversation on Care."
