FRAUDULENT bank notes were used to buy a laptop in a North Yorkshire town.
North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after a top of the range laptop was bought using fake bank notes in Knaresborough.
The county police say the incident happened when a person used social media to negotiate for an Apple MacBook and handed over £340 in counterfeit notes.

“The male in the attached shot may be able to assist us with our enquiries, and we would like to speak with him,” said a spokesperson for the force.
They added that this scam – where a suspect will negotiate a price then pay using fake notes – is not the only incident “but is a different location” and urged people to be careful.
