Students celebrate as 69% get 5+ in English and maths at North Yorkshire school

IT was a record-breaking year for Year 11 Lady Lumley pupils who collected their GCSE and BTEC results today (Thursday).
At all thresholds, Lady Lumley's students excelled, with 69% of students getting a 5+ in English and Maths and 83% getting 4+ in English and Maths.
Clair Foden, Principal, said: "I couldn't be prouder of our students' success.
These life changing results are the product of a great home/school partnership."
Mr Fairclough, who worked closely, leading this year group to amazing outcomes, said he wanted to recognise the character of them.
"It has been a pleasure to work with our dedicated Year 11s this year culminating in their fantastic Prom celebration at Sandburn Hall.
"From ice cream vans to lunchtime bingo and epic Duke of Edinburgh adventures, this Year group has embraced what it is to be Lady Lumley’s students – work hard, play hard and achieve fantastic outcomes in classroom and beyond.
"The success of our students is deep and wide, and they will contribute skills, knowledge and qualification to their community securing grades over 10% above national averages.
"With so many outstanding performances it is difficult to single out individuals but Rosabel Golder’s 7 Grade 9s are amazing.
" Eve Foster and Charlotte Pool are amongst a crew of excelling students all received top grades 7-9 in all their subjects; a testament to their hard work and dedication to their studies at Lady Lumley’s Academy.
"A special mention to all our students’ achievements and resilience which allows them to access future employment and vocational college courses; examples include Isaac Johnson’s 9 GCSEs at 4 and above and Phoebe Watson’s fantastic performance in all her GCSES at 5 and above including a 7 in history allow her to go on to study Health and Social Care at level 3.
Mr Carter, Head of Sixth Form, said he was excited to get started with the new Year 12. "Enrolling students onto A Level and BTEC courses at Lady Lumley's Sixth Form is a delight.
" Our proven track record of success gives our families well placed confidence that they can build on their brilliant GCSE results."
