POLICE have launched an investigation after fuel was allegedly drained and stolen from a Vauxhall Astra in a North Yorkshire car park.
The incident happened between 10.30am and 5.30pm on Monday (August 17) at the Britannia Car Park in Tadcaster.
A police spokesperson said: “The victim's Vauxhall Astra was parked within the central area of the car park during this time.
“When the owner returned to the vehicle, they discovered that the fuel warning light had illuminated and believes that fuel was stolen while the vehicle was unattended."
They added: “We are carrying out enquiries and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Britannia Car Park during the relevant time period and may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the vehicle.
“We are also appealing to anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, CCTV footage, or any information that could assist the investigation.”
