Lines reopen after major incident disrupts train services

UPDATE: Lines have now reopened.A police statement read: "We were called to Potters Bar station at 11.35am today (20 August) following reports of a casualty on the tracks."Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene."The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

TRAIN services to and from York have been disrupted by a major incident.

Disruption is expected between London and Stevenage, affecting LNER services between London Kings Cross, York, Harrogate and Leeds, until 4pm today.

It comes after National Rail announced a person was hit by a train between London and Stevenage.

A spokesperson said: “Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.

“Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or diverted.

“Major disruption is expected until 4pm.”
