Vehicle drained of fuel while in car park at Tadcaster

A driver returned to their vehicle left at a North Yorkshire car park to find it had been drained of fuel.

The theft happened between 10.30am and 5.30pm on Monday (17 August) at the Britannia Car Park.

The victim’s Vauxhall Astra was in the middle of the car park.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “When the owner returned to the vehicle, they discovered that the fuel warning light had illuminated and believes that fuel was stolen while the vehicle was unattended.

“We are carrying out enquiries and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Britannia Car Park during the relevant time period and may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the vehicle.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, CCTV footage, or any information that could assist the investigation.”
