There’s serious disruption on the East Coast Main Line this afternoon (Thursday, 20 August).
It follows a person being hit by a train between Stevenage and London.
While the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.
Trains between York and London are being cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected to last until 4pm.
Here’s the advice from the train operators.
LNER
Replacement buses have been requested. We will provide further information once more is known.
Some LNER train services will divert via Hertford.
You can use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost:
- Avanti West Coast between London Euston, Manchester and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
- CrossCountry between Sheffield, Doncaster / Leeds, York and Newcastle / Edinburgh
- East Midlands Railway between London St Pancras International, Leicester and Sheffield
- Great Northern and Thameslink between London Kings Cross, Stevenage and Peterborough – please note these train operators are also affected by this disruption
- Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle
- TransPennine Express between Manchester, Leeds and York / Newcastle
Grand Central
Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on any the following routes:
Via East Coast
- Any other Grand Central services today
- CrossCountry between Ely and Peterborough
- Great Northern between London Kings Cross and Ely – please note this train operator is also affected by this disruption
- LNER between London Kings Cross and Newcastle or Leeds – please note this train operator is also affected by this disruption
Hull Trains
Hull Trains services will divert via an alternative route and may be delayed. Services will still call at scheduled stations.
