Woman reportedly sexually assaulted on train - police issue statement on incident

A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a man sitting behind her while travelling on a train.

The incident happened on Friday, July 24, at 8.40am on a service from Leeds to Skipton.

British Transport Police are appealing for information and have released an image of a man they wish to speak to.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train from Leeds to Skipton have released this image in connection.

"At around 8.40am on Friday, July 24, a woman was (reportedly) sexually assaulted by a man sitting behind her.

"Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believe he may have information that could assist their investigation."

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40.
