CONCERNS about children experiencing domestic abuse are at record levels, according to new figures from the NSPCC.
The charity’s helpline received 8,448 contacts between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, where domestic abuse was the main concern.
This marks an eight per cent rise on the previous year and more than an 80 per cent increase since 2021/22, when the NSPCC began recording this data.
Paddi Vint, NSPCC Helpline Service Head, said: "It’s alarming that we are seeing record levels of adults contacting our helpline about a child experiencing domestic abuse.
"Domestic abuse is often hidden, with stigma and shame making it harder to ask for help.
"Children and young people might also feel frightened and confused, keeping the abuse to themselves."
Nearly a third of the domestic abuse contacts resulted in referrals to agencies such as police and children’s social services.
