A NEW programme has been launched to support emerging artists and boost creative talent.

Stage Ready South Asia, an initiative led by Bradford’s culture organisation The Leap, will support South Asian musicians and performers across Bradford and the North West.

The programme was launched this week at Jinnah Restaurant during the Leeds Road Festival.

Paul Hutchison, a producer who has worked with Gary Barlow and Fleetwood Mac, said: "I love this initiative, it’s giving local talent a big chance where there is normally none.

"The catalyst is The Leap and the vehicle is Stage Ready South Asia.

"I’m looking forward to keeping in touch with The Leap on what is a much-needed initiative."

The programme will offer specialist masterclasses, one-to-one mentoring with industry professionals, performance opportunities and practical workshops covering stagecraft, digital presence, contracts and navigating the music business.

Artists will also receive personalised development plans and support connecting with promoters, producers and touring networks.

Zulfiqar Ahmed, executive director at The Leap, said: "Stage Ready South Asia is part of our long-term commitment to supporting Bradford’s creative communities.

"We want South Asian artists to have access to the same networks, skills and opportunities as anyone else in the industry."
