A man has been arrested by Border Force after a drugs raid uncovered £33,000 worth of cannabis plants.
Police executed a warrant at a property on Coldwell Park Avenue in Felling, Gateshead, on Tuesday, August 4.
Inside the address, officers discovered more than 200 cannabis plants at various stages of growth.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and was also arrested by Border Force for immigration offences.
Northumbria Police said: "Sergeant Elliott Richardson and his team from Gateshead East NPT have been very busy over the past few years making sure residents feel safe in their own homes.
"On their team alone, they have closed over 60 properties in the area which were known for ASB, drugs and violence…and they’ve added one more to their list.
"Another property was shut down on Coldwell Park Avenue in Felling after a cannabis farm was discovered earlier in the month.
"200 plants at various stages of growth were seized alongside equipment, with an estimated wholesale value at a maximum of £33,000.
"One man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a Class B drug.

"Working with the council, the team secured a closure order at the address for a minimum of three months."
The closure order was secured on Friday, August 7, in partnership with Gateshead Council.
