A BMW driver was treated on the roadside after hitting a central reservation on the A19.
Just before 7am today (Thursday, August 20), Durham Police were called to a crash on the A19 southbound carriageway near Peterlee.
A force spokesperson said: "It is believed the driver of a BMW has hit a puddle before aquaplaning and colliding with the central reservation."
The driver's injuries are not thought to have been serious, but he was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Durham Police confirmed the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) attended and National Highways were also on scene while vehicle recovery was organised.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.52am on Thursday 20 August to reports of a road traffic incident on the A19 near Peterlee.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews and a crew from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and treated and discharged one patient on-scene.”
