‘So proud’: Rossett headteacher praises pupils after GCSE results

Rossett School’s headteacher has praised the achievement, determination and character of Year 11 students as they received their results in Harrogate today.

Headteacher Tim Milburn said the 2026 outcomes reflected the hard work, commitment and resilience students had shown throughout their studies, supported by dedicated staff and their families.

This year’s results highlight strong student achievement, with:

70 per cent of students achieving Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics.

74 per cent of all grades awarded at Grade 4 or above.60 per cent of all grades awarded at Grade 5 or above.97 per cent of all BTECs passed, with 52 per cent of grades awarded at Merit, Distinction or Distinction level.*

Mr Milburn said: “Results day is always a special moment, and it has been wonderful to see our students celebrating the rewards of their hard work and commitment.

"These outcomes represent years of dedication, perseverance and ambition, and I am immensely proud of everything our young people have achieved.”

Rossett school students will now move on to a wide range of exciting next steps, including sixth form study, apprenticeships, college courses and training opportunities.

But the headteacher said the exam results were only one marker of progress at the school

“While today’s results are an important milestone, they tell only part of the story," said Mr Mliburn.

"We are equally proud of the outstanding character our students have demonstrated throughout their time at Rossett School.

"They have embodied our five Rs by being Respectful, Responsible, Ready to Learn, Resilient and Reflective.

"These qualities have helped them overcome challenges, support one another and make the most of every opportunity available to them.”

Mr Milburn also thanked the wider school community for their support:

“I would like to thank our parents and carers for the encouragement and support they have provided throughout their children's education, and our staff for the care, expertise and dedication they show every day,” he said.

"Most importantly, I would like to thank our students for their hard work, positivity and contribution to school life.
