A COASTAL tapas restaurant in a popular North Yorkshire town has applied for a new licence from the council.
Oswalds Bar and Kitchen in Filey is seeking a new pavement licence from North Yorkshire Council.
The restaurant, which serves Mediterranean-inspired tapas, wants permission to serve food and drink to customers sitting outside its business at 32 Belle Vue Street.

If Lauren Dowson’s application is given the green light, the business would be allowed to place three tables and six chairs on the pavement.

The restaurant specialises in small plates, sharing boards, flatbreads, and “carefully selected wines and handcrafted cocktails in a relaxed and stylish setting”, according to its website.
The deadline for representations by members of the public is Monday, August 24.

Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.

The council’s website states: “It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
