East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced a temporary speed limit on Garrowby Hill due to works to replace existing overhead pole-mounted equipment with new underground cables.
From September 14, 2026, at 8am until September 25, 2026, at 6pm, drivers will not be able to exceed 40mph between the junctions of Megginson JD & Son Farm and past the layby.
The layby will be closed for the duration of the works to allow for use as a lay-down area for the job.

The roadworks are being carried out to replace existing overhead pole-mounted equipment with new underground cables.
The order is being issued under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), and is intended to ensure the safe passage of vehicles through the area while the work is being completed.
The order is valid for 18 months, but the council anticipates that the work will be completed within 12 days.
The council has stated that the temporary speed limit will only be enforced while appropriate signage is in place.
